Ever since the Web became a household concept there have been talks going on about new operating system that could replace the one most of us use or become the operating system of the future.

The fact is we already have a new operating system that almost all of us use all the time: the Web browser. Web browsers are becoming the new operating system of the Web. Users are in for a treat since they can chose between many different browsers. Today’s Web browsers can run most of the new Web services popping up everywhere that are in fact the software applications of today.

Operating systems as we know them are good for running and maintaining our computers and handle I/O things, but the business of daily tasks, data management and entertainment is possible from within the Web browsers.

Youos is a Web operating system and is in Alpha stage (as of 11/24/2007). The developers say it is an experiment and a new kind of computing platform.  It sounds interesting enough to pay attention.
