There is an ongoing talk online about the Web's biggest and most popular search engines, but the talk is often about anything else than search. The search companies are constantly adding new Web services and coming up with new "innovations". The online media, including blogs, waits for the next product release or the next Beta service and discusses in what direction the search engines are going. There is one thing, in our opinion, that is missing: how to improve and advance search technology to help us, the users, get the best search experience and actually find the Web pages and information that make up the Web today.

Search engines are very secretive about their search technology and algorithm and that is quite understandable. There are however elements that make up a good search experience that have nothing to do with secretive search technology and complex algorithm. In many ways the search user is getting a lot less service from the search engines than the search technology of today can deliver.

It is known that the largest and most popular search engines get the majority of their revenue from search. We think the majority of improvements coming from those search engines should be search related. There hasn’t been a new link, new sorting options, new advanced searching options added to the traditional search experience recently, and if we are missing what improvements have been made then the majority of Web users is also missing it.

We have talked a lot about the search engine with the largest market share in search, but we are going to change that. In the near future we will be focusing on Web search, what improvements can be made, the search tools that are available and anything else that can help make the Web freely searchable and accessible by all.
