Relevant Search Engine Results

The major search engines rely a lot on the quality and number of links pointing to a Web site when calculating its rank and position in search results. This has in many ways skewed search engine results in a way they do not always represent the most relevant results.

Search engines have through the years tried to improve the algorithms behind their operations. Search engines have been fighting an army of clever search marketers that have been able to manipulate and affect search engine results. The less search engine results are manipulated the better the search results become if the algorithms can calculate the relevance.

It comes as a no surprise Google recently bought a new algorithm invented by a student. The algorithm calculates, as we understand it, the most relevant results based on the actual content of the page and the quality of the content. We are really excited if Google implements such an algorithm to their search engine since it will without a doubt give content more weight and will help new Web sites with good content get better positioning in search results. Let’s just hope the algorithm wasn’t bought to prevent a new competitor from arriving on the search playing field.
