Pockets Full of Money and Rooms Full of Scientists
We have written many pieces about the major search engines and we are particularly interested in Google. Google has the biggest market share in search and is a dominating force in distributing or re-routing Web traffic and that is why 80 percent of our search pieces are about Google. The other major search engines, Yahoo and MSN, are of course very important and either one of them could become the next search destination for majority of searchers, but the present dominator in search is Google.
Web users rely on search engines to provide them with accurate, fresh, organic and uncensored legitimate search results. Web users want the results to reflect the Web as it is at each given time, not as it once was. The search engines have found a way for advertisements to work in harmony with organic results. If the organic search results are compromised in any way to empower the advertisements or Web users are forced to click on them instead of relying on the organic results then we are in big trouble. Google is the search engine that all other search engines are compared with and the search engine most look to for advances and innovation in search technology. Google has rolled out numerous new Web services and most of them are totally free to use. Google has also, according to a certain employee, improved its search algorithm and crawling technology. The Web has grown enormously in size in the past few years and Google has grown enormously as a company. Having pockets full of money and rooms full of scientists one would expect Google to have improved as a search engine from the user’s perspective, but we have reasons to bring up the questions: has Google really improved? Has it become richer, but not better? Are the organic search results reliable or skewed? We are going to take a closer look at Google in the near future and try to view, review, ask questions and discuss it from both user’s and webmaster’s point of view.
